  • Web App Demo (Banking Example): (Use Browser on Laptop/Desktop/Smartphone)

    1. Open the browser of your choice and access https://demo.noknok.com/banking. See here for browsers and operating systems that support the use of platform authenticators. Most recent versions of Chrome running on Android, Chrome or Safari running on an iOS 14 or a macOS 11 device with a TouchID and Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Firefox running on Windows support passwordless authentication directly on devices.
    2. Enter a unique Username (e.g. corporate email address) and click “Next”.
    3. Enter “noknok” as password and click “Sign In”.
    4. If your device supports passwordless authentication, as soon you enter the password, you will be prompted to register a passwordless credential.
    5. Click on “Sign Out”. You can now “Sign In” using your passwordless credential.
  • Mobile App Demo (Banking Example): (Use Smartphone)

  • Please download the “Nok Nok Express” app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and follow the instructions below:

    1. Open the Nok Nok S3 Express app on your mobile device.
    2. Enter a unique Username (e.g. corporate email address) and click “Next”.
    3. Enter “noknok” as password and click “Sign In”.
    4. Please note: For Android devices, if you are performing these steps to complete the Transaction Confirmation demo, then skip the credential registration and go directly to step 6.  If your device supports passwordless authentication, as soon you enter the password, you will be prompted to register a passwordless credential.
    5. Click on “Sign Out”.  You can now “Sign In” using your passwordless credential. This completes your passwordless demo.
    6. Steps to complete for the Transaction Confirmation demo:

    7. Click the drop down menu in the upper left of your screen and select “Settings”.
    8. Select Passwordless Sign In (Selected by default) , check “Disable FIDO2” and Click on “Setup” to register your passwordless credential.
      1. Please select your desired modality. Based on your selection, On an Android device, you may see a Fingerprint in case if its your default chosen modality. On an iPhone, you may be prompted for a TouchID or a FaceID depending upon your device model.  You may also see a prompt for PIN/Passcode/ScreenUnlock if you have not enrolled for biometrics.
    9. Click on “Sign Out”.  You can now “Sign In” using your passwordless credential.


  • Dynamic linking/Transaction Confirmation Demo: (Use Nok Nok Express App on your Smartphone)

  • Make sure to complete the steps listed under ”Banking Mobile App Demo” before proceeding further.  If you are using an Android device, please pay attention to step 7 from the ”Banking Mobile App Demo”.

    Start the transaction confirmation demo:

    1. Once you have successfully registered and authenticated using your passwordless credential, Click the drop down menu in the upper left of your screen and select “Pay a Friend”.
    2. On the “Pay a Friend” screen, select Pat Johnson and try sending an amount greater than $500 from Savings.. Notice that transactions greater than $500 have a different policy that requires step-up passwordless authentication. You may also want to try to send an amount smaller or equal to $500 which does not require step-up authentication.
    3. Once you Click on Authorize, you will notice that you will have to complete the transaction using your passwordless credential (e.g. Fingerprint, FaceID/TouchID, PIN). This operation cryptographically signs the transaction you are performing and provides non-repudiation to the relying parties (e.g. Banks or payment service providers) with respect to user consent. In other words, transaction confirmation provides support for dynamic linking for PSD2.

  • 2nd Factor Sign In Demo: (Use browser)

    1. Open the browser of your choice and access https://demo.noknok.com/banking.  See here for browsers and operating systems that support the use of platform authenticators. Most recent versions of Chrome, and Microsoft Edge support passwordless authentication directly on devices OR open the S3 Express App on your Smartphone.
    2. Enter a unique Username (e.g. corporate email address) and click “Next”.
    3. Enter “noknok” as password and click “Sign In”.
    4. If your device has a platform authenticator, then Ignore the prompt to register your passwordless credential by clicking on “No Thanks”.
    5. Click the drop down menu in the upper left of your screen and select “Settings”. On the Settings page, Choose “Second Factor Sign In” instead of “Passwordless Sign In”.
    6. Click on “Setup” and register your passwordless credential as your Second Factor credential.
    7. Once you sign out after registration, you will notice that you will have to provide the password “noknok” and once you provide the password, you will be prompted for the user gesture (e.g. Fingerprint) as a second factor. The “noknok” password will act as your first factor.

  • Out of band demo (QR Code and PUSH Notification)

  • Before starting the demo, please make sure to download the “Nok Nok S3 Express” App from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.  Complete the steps listed under “Banking Mobile App Demo” particularly step 7 which requires you to disable FIDO2 before clicking on Setup.

    • For Devices without any platform authenticator support (Out of band demo):
      1. Open any browser of your choice and access https://demo.noknok.com/banking.
      2. Click the “Sign in with QR Code”.
      3. Now on your smartphone open the Nok Nok S3 Express app and scan the QR Code by clicking on “Scanner” on the login screen.
      4. S3 Express app reads the QR Code and triggers an authentication prompt. Follow the steps and perform authentication.
      5. Once you successfully authenticate through your smartphone, you will be redirected to an authenticated session on your laptop/desktop device.
    • For bootstrapping additional devices (bootstrap demo):

    Before starting the demo, please make sure to download the “Nok Nok S3 Express” App from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and complete the steps listed under “Banking Web Demo”.

      1. Once you “Sign in” using your passwordless credential on your desktop/laptop, navigate to the Settings page and Click on “Setup with QR Code”.
      2. Now on your smartphone open the Nok Nok S3 Express app and scan the QR Code by clicking on “Scanner” on the login screen.
      3. S3 Express app reads the QR Code and triggers a prompt for registering your mobile device. Follow the steps and perform Registration.
      4. Once you have successfully registered through your smartphone, you will notice that the registration page on your laptop/desktop will list your mobile device registration as an additional authenticator.
  • Account Recovery Demo

    1. Ensure you are signed into your account either through FIDO authentication or username and password.
    2. Add an Account Recovery method, click the drop down menu in the upper left of your screen and select Recovery Settings.
    3. Select Recovery email or Recovery phone, enter your email address and/or phone number, and click Send.
    4. An account recovery setup OTP verification code is sent to your email address or phone.
    5. Enter the verification code you received and click Verify.
    6. Once the code is validated, an account recovery method is automatically created.
      You will now use your Email or your mobile phone number to recover your registered account in the following steps.
    7. Ensure you “Sign Out”, then click “Trouble signing in?” on the sign in page.
    8. Enter your phone number or email for the recovery methods you set up earlier, click “Next”, then click “Send”.
    9. An account recovery OTP code is sent.
    10. Enter the verification code you received and click “Next”.
    11. Congratulations! You have now regained access to your account through the account recovery method!

  • Open a New Account Demo

    1. You can also try opening a new account by Clicking on Open New Account on the sign in screen. This will walk you through creating an account and setting up authentications and recovery methods without ever using a password.

Supported Systems

Browsers:

  • Please use the latest or more recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari (Version 14 or newer) browsers to perform the demo.

Samsung Internet Browser:

  • If you want to use the biometrics via your smartphone using the browser “Samsung Internet” v12.1.3.4 or newer, please set flag ”Web authentication API” to “enabled” in “internet://flags”.

Windows Operating System:

  • If you are using Windows, please make sure to enable Windows Hello with at least one modality (e.g. Windows Hello PIN).  Firefox, Chrome and Edge browsers can be used.

Android Operating System:

  • If you are using an Android device, please make sure to enroll a Fingerprint or PIN/Passcode/ScreenUnlock within the biometrics or security section of the device under Settings.  Chrome and Samsung Browser can be used.

MacOS or iOS Operating System:

  • If you are using a macOS BigSur on a MacBook Pro or iOS 14, depending on the device, you will be using TouchID or FaceID to register and perform authentication. Safari and Chrome browsers can be used.

Security Key Support:

  • If you do not have a platform authenticator on your device, then be sure to have a security key (e.g. Yubikey) plugged into your device on which you are planning to perform the demo. If you do not have a security key, try our Out of Band demo.

Out of band (QR Code and PUSH Notification):

  • If your primary laptop/desktop does not contain a platform authenticator, then try our QR Code option.  You can still use your laptop for signing in but you will be using your smartphone for performing registration and authentication.  You will require a smartphone and you will have to download the “Nok Nok S3 Express” app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store go through the steps listed under Out of band demo.

    Depending on the device and operating system you use, your experience may vary with respect to user interface or modality screens which will be different from one device to another.
